Gregor Mendel (July 20, 1822 - January 6, 1884)

Gregor Mendel is a special person to me. He was an Austrian monk. He lived in Heinzendorf: But he impacted me with his discoveries based in his love of nature.
He was the first person to trace the characteristics of successive generations of a living thing.
Mendel was a visionary, a dreamer, an observer, a consistent and persistent scientific.
Gregor Mendel wasn't only interested in plants, but also he interesed in the metereology and in the evolution.
The theories of heredity were attributed to Gregor based on his work with plants. But his work, experiments with plants hybrid, has so brilliant and unprecedented at the time it took a lot years, more than thirty four, for the rest of scientific community recognized his work.
However, as soon as, he arrive to impact of genetic theory. He changed the way to perceive and live in the world.
His work led to the discovery of particulate inheritance, dominant and recessive traits, genotype and phenotype, and the concept of heterozygous and homozygous.

Why veterinary?

Since child, I liked the animals. I have always had pets. I Love caretakers, feed them, play with them and sometimes sleep, too.
My brother loves them like me, we share that beautiful feeling.
When any fell sick, I was very sad and always trying find a solution to help them. Then decided to study Veterinary Medicine because I don't like view sick animals or in poor physical and psychological. In this way can take care of them better and with knowledge of their possible diseases, treatments and, in addition, provide love and affection.
Study this career is difficult, it takes a lot responsibility, discipline and intelligence. It is a carreer very beautiful, as well.
I am in the best university of the country, and not everyone can say it...
I think I will be a good veterinary, wearing the charm for animals in the heart.
